How to use this QR generator
An SMS QR code can open the scanning person's messaging app with a recipient and suggested text. Use it for a public enquiry number or a short request. Make QR encodes the number and message directly; it does not send texts or provide a messaging service.
- Enter the recipient's full phone number, including its international country code. Use a number you intend to publish.
- Optionally enter a short message. Keep it concise so the QR remains readable and the person scanning can review it easily.
- Download the code and scan it on your intended phones. Check both the recipient and message in the messaging app before printing.
The visitor chooses whether to send
A compatible reader opens a message composer; the person scanning decides whether to send. SMS link support differs between devices and messaging apps, so some readers may display the raw data instead. Sending requires an available messaging service and may incur carrier charges. A QR code does not provide free messages.
SMS, a call or a WhatsApp chat?
Use SMS for a regular text-message recipient, the phone generator for a telephone link, and the WhatsApp generator for a wa.me chat link. These are different encoded destinations. A static SMS code includes its original number and text; edit your draft and export a replacement when either changes.

Frequently asked questions
Does scanning send the SMS automatically?
No. A supported messaging app opens a draft and the visitor chooses whether to send it.
Can I use an international recipient?
Include the country code in the number and test on your audience's phones. Carrier availability, charges and app support are outside Make QR's control.
Is the message private inside the QR?
No. Anyone who can read the code can see its recipient and message. Only encode information you intend to share.
